This album was recorded during a three-day session in early December 2017, at Lights Up Studio, Taipei, Taiwan. Two musicians and two visual directors were involved in the creative process.

The visual directors were invited to not only handle the technical aspects of capturing the performances and making videos afterwards, but also to be part of the inspiration for the improvisation.

We'd start the majority of our free improvisation with a subject, which could be a technical or abstract concept, a name, or a film footage that we decided on the spot. Visual inputs turned out to have tremendous influence on what we would play. The lighting, video projection and even the movement of the cameramen became part of the conversation.

There was no pre-planning for the musical content beforehand. This means that we did not prepare any loops, discuss rough outlines or rehearse any parts. We’d just pick a topic and go.

Some of the results were rather mediocre, while some other stuff turned out to be pleasant surprises. We picked what we thought were the most interesting parts and made them into this album.
